My good friend and colleague Joana Adesuwa Reiterer just finished her latest project: together with the authors Corinna Milborn and Mary Kreutzer she wrote the book Ware Frau - Auf den Spuren moderner Sklaverei von Afrika nach Europa (vaguely translated: Product Woman - Tracing Modern Slavery from Africa to Europe).
Since my last movie Greener Pastures that premiered a year ago i am kind of involved with the topic of human trafficking. Especially the situation here in Austria is unbelievable, the government argues about smoking prohibition in bars and on our streets human beeings have to sell their body because they literally don´t have any other choice.
I highly recommend reading the book, i´ve been at the book presentation yesterday and i hope that this book will raise the awareness of the people. And just in case you wonder where to get the book, here is the Amazon link: Amazon.de: Ware Frau

, 12. July, 2008 at 10:26 pmI read the introduction of this book in Arabic on the site of aljazeera.net. I searched the net to find if this book is available in English or other languages. But apparently it is not. It must be translated in English as soon as possible.
It seems to be a great work and needs to be widely circulated in order to create awareness about this grave issue.

, 13. July, 2008 at 8:06 amYou are absolutely right, and one of the first things i mentioned when i met the authors was that it really needs to be translated.
I think they are about to do so already, but if you want to make sure you could just drop them a line…
