Well, i love Gmail, whenever i´m in front of a computer Gmail is opened, but i think a little nifty feature would make it even better: i´d love to have a ToDo plugin for Gmail.
Just a little window in the sidebar that lets you store some ToDos, since Gmail is always opened it would be the best idea to put it there, and not an extra service.
But i guess chances are not that good that some Google developers stumble across my blog and implement my suggestion…

As for Gmail, some people are using it for todos already:
simply add a filter that applies the label ToDo to all emails that have TODO in their title. This way, you can add a todo by emailing it to yourself and you can list all todos by looking at that label. You can make the filter so that it will also starr the email or add another label like “unfinished” or so. This way, you can “check” the todos if you finished them.
This approach is nce because you can use search to find and filter todos. You can even send yourself todos from outside gmail.
Oh, and you might want to check out GTDGmail ( http://www.gtdgmail.com/ ), which enhances gmail via greasemonkey.
